I must say that I am not feeling this color on me at all. It feels a bit Grandma from Florida Coral. Not that there's anything wrong with Grandmas in Florida who love coral lipstick....... it just isn't the look for me.

A Snowy Saturday

Lancome Chris & Tell : Coral Lips for Spring!

I will admit, I got caught up in the hype of a limited edition shade from Lancome for Spring. The "it" coral shade that was flattering on anyone. I don't have many peach or coral shades, so this sounded perfect for me.

Chris & Tell is the L'Absolu Rouge formula and retails for $29. I was able to get free shipping by pre-ordering through Lucky Magazine. I also got a pretty sweet GWP- another L'Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Cherrywood Luxe, a trial size Effacernes Concealer, and a trial size of Absolue Facial Cream.

The tube is a sleek black accented with Lancome's signature gold rose on top. It is magnetic and clicks together securely.

Love the tiny rose.

(Try to ignore the mystery spot on my cushion. Could be mud from the dog or food from the kids. Endless possibilties....)

The formula is smooth and very pigmented. This may be one of my favorite lipstick formulas, and well worth the cash. I was slightly disappointed with my similarly priced Chanel Rouge Allure. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough to warrant the steep price tag. This lipstick is!

I would call it a slightly pinked melon color. It is peach, but looks pinker than most of my peaches. It can be bright and opaque with a couple swipes, or blotted down for a sheer pop of color. No shimmer here, though it is slightly glossy on my lips.

I will do a full face with this tomorrow, but here are some swatches for now.

River Pictures- We Are Flooding

Here are some pictures of the field aka our front yard.

We plan on going out later today, we will be taking a camera too.

The Sickness.

I promise I will be posting more later in the week, I hope even in the beginning of this week. We have finally gotten sick here after a very uneventful summer and fall.

I took my 3 year old to the doctor Saturday morning for an ear infection, and it turns out he also has bronchitis. I came home with a Nebulizer, Prednisone, and some good old Augmentin. The other two kids have the same cough, so I really wish I had taken them also now that I know it is bronchitis. I will be waiting it out until tomorrow morning and taking them first thing.

Now I have started feeling crummy myself. Let's hope that the pediatrician will write me a perscription also, otherwise I will be subjected to two doctors waiting rooms with three kids in one day.

I am thankful to have done my grocery shopping tonight- free of children. A full pantry is always a good start to my week!

Things That Make My Skin Go Crazy.

Oh the joys of sensitive skin. I feel like my problem has gotten worse as I get older. Not that I'm old or ever will be. No way. Never.

I thought I should start a list of things that have caused my skin to explode into tiny red bumps, and made it impossible to leave the house for about a week. I won't go into any more details except to say painful and GROSS.

#1 MAC Tinted Lip ConditionerOhhhh.... Look how pretty! A cute little jar of moisturizing goodness. Not to mention that yummy vanilla caramel scent. It even has Spf and a slight tint. By the end of the day I felt a slight warmth, followed by an itch on my face. I washed it off because I knew where this was going. Fast forward to the next morning- I look like Angelina Jolie if she were to stick her lips in a blender. Day two and the tiny bumps are moving to my chin and nose. May have to see a dermatogist for this one.


#2 Korres Quince Body Butter

The natural ingredients should have tipped me off first, but I blindly slathered myself in this thick floral cream. By the end of the day I was feeling itchy and had bumps on my neck and arms. Good thing this didn't spread far and was gone in two days. No need to avoid public places this time.


#3 Clinique Buttershine Lipstick
Ohhhhh Butter and Shine? Sign me up! I only used this for a day. At the time I was testing out Bare Escentuals Matte foundation, so I thought that had caused my reaction. It was weeks later when my sister mentioned she had a reaction to a Clinique lipstick. Orly? Yes rly.


#4 Philosophy Hope In A Jar
This was a Sephora sample. Evil Sephora. I used it one time and the reaction was within hours. This left my entire face and neck covered in the tiny painful (oozing) bumps. This was truly the worst. I looked like the victim of a terrible chemical burn, which I guess is about right. I have since decided to stop experimenting with my skincare. I mostly use Boots and try not to stray.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick

After hearing good reviews and seeing the BOGO on Revlon at CVS this week, I have fallen victim to Revlon Colorburst. As you can see from my previous swatches, I need more lipstick like a hole in the head.

These are smooth, glossy, and unscented. I love the black square tube. It has quilting on two sides and clicks closed securely. It also has the actual color on the top which makes it easy to grab out of a lineup. In comparison the Maybelline Colorsensational, they are less pigmented and have a much smaller color range. That being said, I prefer these lipsticks. They are colors that I would wear everyday without having to think too hard. Ouch.

I picked up Peach and Soft Rose yesterday. I plan to swatch them soon.
Blush still eludes me, but I have a feeling it will be mine soon. *evil laughter*

Lipstick Swatches

Here is everything....... Except MAC VGV which is a favorite and also missing.

Wow, the Maybelline Colorsensational and Lipstick Queen Sinner were the most dry to swatch!

Benefit is definitely full finish, and quite smooth and silky.

MAC is still my favorite overall- for range of colors and that sweet vanilla smell.

Book of Shadows Last Day : Smoky FOTD

I did one last look with my Book of Shadows. In case you are interested, I believe I have talked myself out of the Alice in Wonderland palette. Too much glitter happening for me. I can't promise I will stick with that statement.


I had a few requests for a smoky eye. Here is my best attempt, though I can't say I am loving the finished product.

Followup and Correction to my 7 Facts.....

My Dad has informed me that it was my Great Grandma and Great Grandpa who were born in Slovenia. They met as teenagers or young adults in the US. My Grandma did learn her English in school though.

My parents have been scanning old pictures lately, and here is one they just sent over. My Great Grandpa is in the center.

They are playing Balinca, a Slovenian version of Bocce Ball. Yes, I had to Google both of those.
