MAC Surf USA Eyeshadow: Swatches and Review

I have not felt the urge to buy MAC for quite awhile until I saw this teal beauty from the Surf Baby Collection.

Surf USA

At first I was pretty sure the packaging was the ugliest I had seen recently, but now I think this little pot is pretty cute. I like the tiny surf board on the top with the hot pink flower.

Surf USA is a satin finish teal with tiny silver micro-shimmer.

Where does it fall on the teal spectrum? I'd say safely between green and blue.

Look at how refined it looks next to those shiny Urban Decay shades. It has great pigment and a smooth texture.

I can see this being a fun summer color to experiment with. Bravo MAC! And great job making one of the creepiest promo pics to date:

I am thinking the girl might steal my soul of I stare too long, and what is with the naked guy to the left?

Chanel Epatant Illusion D'Ombre: Swatches and Review

I decided I needed to try at least one of Chanel's new Illusion D'Ombre shadows. Epatant looked like a versatile choice.

What comes inside of my cute little box?

One shadow pot and a capped brush.

The brush comes apart and reveals a flat angled shape- perfect to line or blend larger areas of color.

The cap connects to the brush and becomes the handle- a very useful design!

The Illusion D'Ombres have a mousse texture that gives- spongy and springy.

Epatant is an antique silver color. It is highly reflective, but can be sheered out for a subtle sparkle.

Cafe Makeup compared it to Lancome Erika F. shadow, and it is very similar. Erika F. has less bling and is a bit deeper. I also compared it to MAC Silverthorn to show that Epatant is not a cool toned gray. It is more a a silvered khaki.

A commenter asked how it compares to Benefit Skinny Jeans- totally forgot about this one! I just have to show you the cute Benefit lid while we are looking at pictures:

You can really see the mousse texture here vs. the Benefit cream:

Skinny Jeans is darker and less reflective than Epatant. I actually think they would work nicely together for a soft smoky look.

So far I can not comment on wear time. I was able to rub the swatch off of my arm easily, but Epatant has been going strong on my eyes for a couple hours over primer. I will update my experience when I do a look with this shadow.

More Bobbi Brown Rich Lipsticks

I said I would need more right? My original review is here. I still love these, and I hope Bobbi will be releasing more shades eventually.

L-R: Soft Coral, Mod Pink, Bikini Pink

Here is Mod Pink swatched next to some bright pinks. It is a medium pink, like a bright for beginners. It is also fairly neutral.

Mod Pink on the lips:

Soft Coral is a light vibrant peach. Next to Chanel Chintz and Armani Pink 510, it lacks the pinkish tone.

Here is Soft Coral on the lips with Bobbi Brown Brightening Gloss in Peach:

Bikini Pink is a warm light pink. Notice how cool toned Urban Decay Naked looks and peach Chanel Chintz looks.

Here is Bikini Pink on the lips topped with NARS Frivolous Gloss Stick:

Another win from Bobbi Brown!

OPI Pirate Pastels: Yaaaarrrr??

I heart Jack Sparrow.

Up for the newest installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean, is OPI's pastel themed polish collection. Strange concept, but beautiful colors.

I got all but two of the colors. I love OPI's formula and these candy colors are so fun!

I have swatched these with two coats- no base or top coat. I put a coat of silver shatter on the ring finger, but didn't wait long enough for the base color to dry. Shatter cracks better when the undercoat of polish is completely dry.

Mermaid's Tears is a pastel aqua with a touch of green.

Planks A Lot is a dusty pastel lavender.

Sparrow Me the Drama is a candy mid tone pink.

Stranger Tides is a faded light celery green.

The formula was very easy to work with- no streaks or sheerness. I wouldn't think of pirates when looking at these pastel colors, but I am in love with this collection. The Silver Shatter is a fun addition as well. I went back and bought the other 2 colors after seeing them in person. They are both dusty toned pastel colors, and I can't get enough of cream polishes or OPI.

Some Swatches and a FOTD

Here is an old look that I really liked. I never got around to posting it or pictures of the things I used.

I used the usual face products so I am not listing that here.

I used Chanel Berry-Rose Duo on the eyes with a touch of Bobbi Brown Black Chocolate in the outer V area. I love the Ombre Contraste Duos from Chanel- so soft, smooth, and full of pigment. The color combinations are foolproof as well.

I used Armani Blush #10 on the cheeks. It is a very unique color for me. It is a peachy rose color with a slight sheen. Lovely and natural and also foolproof. I want to try more from the Armani blush range now!

I decided to pick up one more Rouge D'Armani in a pale nude pink. 103 is a great natural lip color and I love the formula (reviewed here).

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Swatches and Review Part 2

The next Tarte blushes I have to show you all are peachy colors.

I love the cute little compact, and it is so handy that they are all color coded. I don't have to read labels to grab the color I want.

Glisten is a pinkish peach with golden shimmer.

Blissful is a matte slightly pinked peach.

Tipsy is a bright coral with a slight sheen.

All three are long lasting and pack a ton of pigment!

Note: Blissful and Tipsy are not as similar as they look in these pictures (and they look even more different on the face).

MAC Hipness is less shimmery and golden than Glisten.

Tipsy is brighter and less pink than NARS Deep Throat.

I am loving every color I have tried so far- go Tarte!
